Backup and recovery of machines form part of our RedApp services. To restore a machine's data, you need to have done at least one backup of it.
Follow the steps below to recover using the RedApp. To recover using ESE, see Article 1133.
To recover a machine:
1. In the RedApp, locate the relevant customer name in the sidebar and click on it.
2. Click on Machines in the sidebar.
3. Click on the relevant machines folder.
4. Locate the machine you want to recover. Expand its menu on the right, and click Recover using InstantData.
5. An InstantData agent will be downloaded. Once the download is complete, run the application. Select your recovery option and follow the prompts. (See Article 1169 for more information.) Each agent is valid for 48 hours and can only be used to initiate one restore.
Note that the backup dates that are available to restore from in InstantData may differ from the backup dates you see for the account in the RedApp. This is because the RedApp displays a complete backup history, whereas InstantData shows only the backups available for recovery.
Note: You can also recover/migrate the entire backed-up machine into the cloud by using our Azure Mobility functionality. Read more here.
